ACE Camp Kluang 2006 27th-30th Oct

I'm back to civilisation!!!

People ask me if i regret going to ACE camp, since i volunteered, unlike those ppl going for OB Sabah and were forced to go. Answer is not really i guess, since i didnt really expect much in the first place.

Definitely, i brought back lots of memories from this camp. This camp also allowed me to restore lots of memories during ACE camp 2005, when i was a participant. 208 powder bathe rawks alright.

As an activity leader during this camp, my job was pretty slack compared to the force leaders one. My activity was abseiling and prusikking, helping out Mr Rohan, after 5 sessions, Mr Rohan asked me to do the introduction to the abseiling equipments and also demonstrate how to abseil, thankfully it was rather successful and i think i did quite okay.

Generally, the food was quite okay as usual, mainly i love the breakfast and drinks, and as usual, i hate the flies. Also according to Mr Teo, it was the first time this camp rained for each of the 3 days in the afternoon, and i'm pretty sure its going to rain again today there. The extremes of the weather definitely brought out the determination in us to hang on to the end of the camp as tent fell and hornets were in the air (not literally).

Things i learnt in this camp was that listening is much more important than most of us can actually imagine. Also i learnt how u can tie someone up simply by using clove hitches, and also how useful the prusikk knot can be in preventing sun burns.

New friendships were forged and friendships were strengthened, mainly with those living in the same tent.

Gosh...

I cant believe i'm saying this but that Malay instructor (i forgot the name) really deserves my respect, his definitely one person who can motivates others well (with his "claps" and hornet drills).

So thats the end of my experience at ACE Camp, now theres a report to do, followed by NYAA (bronze) record book to do, and the write up for the lasallian award, not to mention the collection of homework i have. But who cares...lets just dao, party, and enjoy life!!!
